Ground Application

Industrial engines. Train Shaft Systems

Practical problems and computer simulation of rotor dynamics for the industrial or ground-based power plants including their shafting systems are similar to the aero engine ones but the industrial plants have specific features disclosed below.

  • The plant shafting may include a large number of separate units participating in the dynamic structure and determining its dynamic properties. The units may be steam turbines, compressors, electric motors, turbo drives, gearboxes, various couplings, shafts connections, pumps, etc. Analysis of the system dynamic behavior, requires involvement of separate computer models for each unit with sequential integration into a complete dynamic structure.
  • Dynamic models of various shafting units can differ significantly. Rotor supports may include bearings of various types, rolling bearings, plain bearings, magnetic bearings, etc. This imposes certain requirements on such models.
  • Some units may have large weights which require involvement of the turbine unit suspension specific features such as the under-engine frames and foundations properties, etc.
  • Among the typical cases of the industrial plants are the analysis of dynamic behavior under seismic loads, the influence of shafting misalignments upon dynamic properties, the torsional vibration analysis, the additional rotor balancing in operation, etc.
  • It is important to ensure the absence of rotor element rubbing the stator structures, or any circumstances.
  • Mostly the turbine units operate for a long time in constant modes.

DYNAMICS R4 software has all capabilities for creation of adequate models and functionality that allow solution of the practical shafting problems encountered by engineers. At the same time, all the requirements for models and results, both in Russian and foreign standards, and, in particular, all the requirements of ISO and API standards, are monitored and implemented.

Our experts have all the competencies and extensive experience in solving problems, providing our customers with specific recommendations. Some tasks and their solutions are presented on the page.
